Our Beginning
Our story began long before the brand itself. When our son was born, we noticed small signs that something in his movement was different. After years of tests and uncertainty, in April 2022 at the age of three, he was finally diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called HSP.
The diagnosis brought many new challenges, one of them being the need for AFO braces to help him walk. At first, we thought the hardest part would be helping him get used to them, making sure they were comfortable and didn’t hold him back.
But soon, an unexpected struggle appeared: finding the right socks. We needed socks that were soft enough to protect his skin, strong enough for everyday use, and fun enough to make him feel confident and proud.
What seemed like a small detail became the spark that started Lairos.
The Challenge
We searched everywhere. There were some knee-high socks for kids, but none truly worked with AFO braces. Most were either too thick or too plain, dull and far from the fun styles our son loved. Many were made from fabrics that trapped heat or left marks after just a few hours of wear.
And when we finally found socks with bright, playful designs, they were either not knee-high or made only in adult sizes. The heels sat halfway up our son’s calf, the seams rubbed against his skin, and the fit was completely off. We couldn’t find a single pair that was both fun and functional- colorful, comfortable, and truly made for children who wear braces.

The Turning Point
We realized we couldn’t find what we needed, so we decided to create it ourselves. What began as a challenge for our son eventually became a mission to design socks that change the way people, not just kids, experience braces and walking aids.
We explored many options until we found the right factory, the perfect fabric blend, and the stitching techniques that made all the difference. We tested every detail until we reached the balance we were searching for.
Above all, our goal was to create socks that combined comfort with style- without ever compromising one for the other. It wasn’t easy, but through persistence we discovered what we now see as the perfect mix: soft and gentle on sensitive skin, flexible enough for daily wear, playfully designed with our own unique prints for kids, and most importantly, with the true knee-high length that fits perfectly with AFO braces.
Today & Tomorrow
Today, our son no longer needs his braces. That chapter of our journey is behind us, even though new challenges always come along. But it was those early years, the braces, the search, the struggles, and the small victories- that gave us the inspiration to launch Lairos.
